Over the course of the last two millenniums the Gospel of Jesus Christ [that is, the good news unto all men, women, boys, and girls, that Jesus Christ came to this earth to pay our sin debt through His death on the cross of Calvary – salvation (eternal life) being freely offered to all who will repent of their sins, and who will receive God’s gift of grace (salvation) through faith in Jesus Christ the resurrected Savior] has been preached in practically every language and in all parts of the world.
The following Scriptures bring to light the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
John 3:16,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 3:23,
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 5:12,
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Romans 5:8,
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 6:23,
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8-9,
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Romans 10:9-10, 13,
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
The apostle Paul fully understood the importance of preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He wrote in Romans 1:16,
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The apostle Paul went on to write in 1 Corinthians 1:17-18,
“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
And he wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4,
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
Everywhere the apostle Paul went on his missionary journeys, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was preached.
We find in Scriptures three responses of those who heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ – some mocked, some procrastinated in believing, some immediately believed. On the Day of Pentecost it is recorded that some mocked at the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, yet others immediately believed.
Acts 2:13,
“Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.”
Acts 2:41-42,
“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
When the apostle Paul preached about Jesus and the resurrection on Mars Hill, we find the same type of responses as recorded in Acts 17:32-34,
“And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. So Paul departed from among them. Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.”
Note King Agrippa’s procrastinated response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acts 26:28,
“Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”
The question that now remains is, “Are you a mocker, a procrastinator, or a believer?” The truth as to who Jesus Christ is will never change – but, will you receive Him as your personal Savior today?
