In our materialistic world, men, women and children alike continually seek to satisfy and to quell their innate hunger for peace, joy and happiness through the acquisition of more and more “stuff”. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden this inherent need for peace, joy and happiness has seemingly caused men and women to work more and more hours, husband and wives to sacrifice their home life, and children to demand more and more from their parents. Likewise, many have turned to “religion”; believing that by following strict rudiments and tenants of a “religion” will satisfy their hunger.
In an effort to temporarily squelch this need, larger homes, cars, boats, and toys are purchased; most often making the purchaser enslaved to the debt of the purchase; many even seeking larger and larger churches, while dabbling in “religion”. And just as quick as that “item” (that promises to provide peace, joy and happiness) is obtained, that instantaneous moment of deluded peace, joy and happiness quickly fades away and the hunger immediately returns; thus, the pursuit and quest starts all over again.
Someone once wrote: “Money will buy a bed, but it will not buy sleep. Money will buy food, but it will not buy an appetite. Money will buy medicine, but it will not buy health. Money will buy a house, but it will not buy a home. Money will buy a diamond, but it will not buy love. Money will buy a church pew, but it will not buy salvation.”
In other words, if you are truly seeking to not only find true peace, joy and happiness but also to obtain an everlasting fulfillment of peace, joy and happiness – you must turn to the true source Jesus Christ. You must stop searching to fulfill the needs of your soul through external sources such as “money and religion”. God’s Word states the following.
John 5:24,
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
Ephesians 2:8-9,
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Romans 5:1-5,
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Colossians 3:1-4,
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
Matthew 6:33,
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
For you see, one can obtain lasting peace, joy and happiness when one places their faith and trust in Jesus Christ God’s only begotten Son. The prophet Isaiah penned the following words concerning the coming Christ.
Isaiah 9:6-7,
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”
And yes, Jesus came and fulfilled this prophesy and He will be returning soon. Have you filled your need for true peace, joy and happiness? If not, turn in faith unto Jesus Christ today.
